Handbag sales rise due to ‘Queen effect’

It appears it's not just the Duchess of Cambridge who can call a frenzied sales boom whenever she makes a public appearance in a dress. The Queen is now giving Kate a run for her money in the style stakes.

The Queen's handbag Launer London has seen a 58% increase in sales after Her Majesty was seen sporting three bespoke bags from the designer throughout the diamond jubilee weekend. It appears so many were desperate to emulate the Queen's sartorial style that the brand's website crashed.

Launer - who create four new designs especially for the Queen every year - experienced a similar, 60% increase last April, after Her Majesty was seen by millions of people carrying one of their white handbags at the royal wedding.
